I'm 61 and it was definitely a thing when I was a child here in Hull. We made turnip lanterns at the Brownies. More or less a week of high-jinks: Halloween, Mischief Night & Bonfire Night. And my Dad had grown up with it in Scotland.

My 101 year old aunt died last year, a lifelong devout Methodist, daughter and sister of ministers, who firmly declared "love is love" and supported her church's decision to allow equal marriage. Age is not an excuse. Faith is not an excuse. There are no excuses for remaining a homophobe.
