I am Canadian (ex-pat in the states). I didn’t miss your point. The average lower class person in the US goes bankrupt with simple procedures. That does not happen in Canada. The Canadian system needs some tweaking though.

Now do medications. I’ll wait. My daughter lives in Canada and pays exorbitant amounts for medications. And transfusions. And physical therapy And mental health care Yes, Canada has better basic care (if you can find a family doctor), but the finer points are expensive.
