I worked in a hospital with plenty of immigrant patients. They didn’t have actual translators on staff; they used a service where translators for many languages were available by phone. I’m sure it’s cheaper and more efficient and probably JD is lying about what he saw on his hospital visit.

Vance et al LIE 24/7/365. Hospitals & medical providers must provide Culturally Competent Care. This includes medical translation services. These are remote & provided by contractors as needed (phone/zoom/etc), NOT FULL TIME MULTILINGUAL STAFF.
