Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

It was an educational game for the Apple II computers that many schools had on hand. I suspect if we go into the history, apple probably offered schools a sweetheart deal in the 80s and they kept those computers into the early-mid 90s. My elementary didn't have IBM PCs for students until 1994 or so
