If you understand why Jews might find it hard to view claims that Zionism is totally out of bounds as being solely about political ideology, and not about immutable identity categories, you should understand why viewing anti-Zionism as totally out of bounds might feel that way to Arabs and Muslims.

And the Jewish community knows this well, because they understand that having a standard of “everyone must disavow Zionism” in certain academic or professional spaces is going to fall hardest on Jews, even if the people demanding such a standard claim it is a racially neutral political standard.

This is good to see, I guess, but in practice, there’s no way to have a standard of “every candidate must be a Zionist” without that falling hardest on Muslims and Arabs in the US today. It is in practice not going to be a standard implemented impartially.
