Ill say comments are my favorite. Some of my least read/kudos fics have the most comments and they were so fun to write bc of that. (Looking at the doctor who fusion fic lol)
Show PostIduno Ive been thinking about it a lot and... Yeah dont base your worth or the quality of your work on the *amount* of engagement. That's not healthy. But it's okay if you want that engagement and enjoy it. And no ones work should be less respected because of that.
Show PostAnd I've seen the opposite, people saying it shouldn't matter once it's online. Or that people should "create for themselves" Of course you should create because you enjoy creating. But if we didn't get anything from sharing it with others, why would we post it online and build these communities.
Show Post-- or know how many people have read/enjoyed it. I've seen a lot of messages of writers justifying not wanting people to take their work and post it without their permission. Or having to explain around why that engagement is important.
Show PostMaybe unpopular opinion Its okay if part of why you post your fics online is for the kudos and engagement. That does not undercut your joy of writing, and is morally neutral. It is okay if you don't want other people posting your work because it means you aren't able to see the interactions--
