Excitement, but not the good kind! We had a short in one of the wires that was causing the button to press itself constantly. She successfully traced it and is currently replacing that wire. We have an hour and a half until the mayhem begins, we’ll probably make it.

We have had to re-solder six wires so far and there is now a significantly structural amount of electrical tape involved. There have also been at least seven iterations of “oh I suppose it would probably work better if I plugged this in” so y’know, going pretty well.

The signs made their debut in 2024, and successfully lured in a lot of people including a pack of teens who came very warily down the street apparently expecting a Looney Tunes-style hole in the ground. Thus the addition of TOTALLY NOT A TRAP in 2025.

And that’s where we are as of right now. I’m about to go pry her out of bed (she was up way too late last night writing the code for the LEDs) so we can go wire everything up. Oh, and this year we also upgraded the signs that go at either end of our street to lure people. Now they’re colorful!
