Relatedly, someone posted on my small town facebook group asking what neighborhoods were good to take their kids trick or treating in, and I was happy to see every one of the 40+ comments was positive. None of that thinly veiled racist “we get too many kids from other neighborhoods!” nonsense.

It makes no sense to police trick or treating when its the country's only structured community building event. Oh, a neighbor was brave enough to ring my doorbell? Better make sure they don't want to strengthen their social ties.
