Trunk or treating originated as a paranoid church thing, IIRC, which is dumb, but I think it persisted and spread when people realized it was a way to get otherwise disjoint communities to have some Halloween time together.

I def dont do everything on that list in the article though. At regular meals i dont regularly put a dessert on the plate. Treats arent “earned” for finishing a plate but they are only served (if we have something) after eating real food.
