Wall paintings of c1300 in the Galilee Chapel of Durham Cathedral. Oct 20: Feast of Acca (†740), bishop of Hagustaldes ham (Hexham) 709-32, disciple of Wilfrid, scholar. Acca enriched his church, which was dedicated to St Andrew, with a large library, works of art, altars, relics and sacred vessels. Frithuberht succeeded him. 📸Kevin Wilbraham

Day 12 of #31DaysOfGraves - Ordinary In heraldry, an "ordinary" is the technical name given to shapes that divide up a shield. These can be cross-shaped, chevrons, straight lines or, as in this case, saltires. This fabulous example is in the 'Poltalloch Enclosure' in Kilmartin Kirkyard, in Argyll.
