I had a million plans, but even the "if all else fails I can always X" ones fell apart on me. I could've still done Uruguay or stalled leaving Brazil a bit longer, but it was time to cut my losses.

Currently staying with my mom, areas ok but state is purple. Idk how long I'll be here, I'd like to go to a blue state, live with a friend/partner, or even save back up for a more focused attempt at South Africa or Brazil or somewhere. But those are long term ideas, for now I really need work.

The US feels really weird to me now, after a year of constantly learning new places and languages. I don't think I really belong here anymore, but it's the only option for now. It's a nice place to be, political situation aside.

With the information I had at the time, I'm still not sure it was a bad risk to take. In hindsight this was a catastrophe, but I don't know that I'd call it a bad idea, still . And at least I got to see a lot of cool places and stuff and friends. And the yearlong breather was really nice.
