Yes, next year a basic minimum wage job will pay £27,000 pa whereas higher rate tax starts at £50k, less than double . When min wage was introduced, higher rate tax was 4 times min wage . Millions of relatively low paid people now pay 40% tax, including 1 in 9 pensioners ! #R4today
