It's shocking - particularly living locally - to see that residents have been evacuated from two blocks of flats in Canning Town. I don't know what the exact issues are in this case, but my team at Buro Happold has been working on similar problems for several years. A thread on the issue:
Show PostAgree with the substance of this but also it’s one of the reasons why both building more housing and getting rid of stamp duty are actually non negotiable parts of any green agenda. You can’t say ‘we want to incentivise moving closer via fuel duty’ and also ‘and we will tax you to move house’.
Show PostI wish those who fetishise mass violence or civil war would just read a detailed history of one of them and note how many casual atrocities are just... mentioned in passing. The number of mentions of mass rape. And think what that likely means for them and their loved ones.
Show PostLooking at Assembly results since 1998, very few seats have changed hands directly between a Nationalist and a Unionist recently (since 2011, a UUP gain from SF in E Antrim & a SDLP gain from UUP in Lagan Valley, both 2017). The 2017 seat reduction was almost entirely at the expense of unionists.
