Patrick Stewart's passing feels a whole hell of a lot like Dolly's. It's hard to imagine that singular talents found in people born in the working class or working poor will get fostered the ways theirs were. The things that nurtured those talents have been stripped for profit by assholes.

This is actually something I tell students: in a world that tells us we must all strive for "excellence" we must do the best we can, but also be okay when we find out we are just middling. The vast majority of us are just middling--including myself in this--I think its important to be okay with that
