“They used to ask me ‘Why, why, why?’ as if I was somehow slumming it. What snobbery!” he said, adding: “For huge numbers of people, I will always be Jean-Luc Picard, and that’s fine. I really believe we created an admirable individual.” Patrick, it was more than just fine.
Show Post9/9 Thank you, Patrick, for Picard, for the comfort, and for making me feel a little less alone. For giving us a character who reminded us what humanity could be if we actually tried. I don't have anything more eloquent to say. I'm just shattered.
Show Post8/9 I keep thinking about that six-year-old kid who fell in love with this character and had no idea they'd still be talking about him all these years later. I wish I could tell that kid how much Picard would mean to them.
Show Post7/9 I don't know how to explain losing someone whose work has been part of your life for this long. Obviously, he didn't know me. But his work reached me. It made a difference in my life. And that meant something. It still means something.
Show Post6/9 Patrick Stewart made Picard feel real. His voice, his presence, the way he could make a speech feel like it was meant specifically for you. He gave us someone to look up to, and I don't think I'll ever be able to explain how much that means to me.
