In English “shit” can be swapped for inoffensive alternatives like “sugar” or “shiitake mushrooms”. My favourite in German is to swap Scheiße (“shit”) for Scheibenkleister, which is an adhesive glue for window panels (so you’re essentially exclaiming “pane paste!” or “panel putty!”).

My friend who passed away loved dinosaurs. When the coffin arrived at the crem the entrance music was the Jurassic Park theme tune, and the funeral director walked solemnly behind wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume. The whole crem dissolved into helpless laughter.
