Writing tip: Stop making your characters agreeable all the time. Let them have fights that don't end with apologies. Let them sling insults without someone immediately chastising them for being rude, because you think your audience needs moral handholding. For fucks sakes, just let them be mean.
Show PostYears ago, I remember watching a game review where the host criticized it over a bit of flavor text, because an NPC says rude shit to the player character. Even though the intent was for that character to be an ass (and not get called out on because he was just an inconsequential extra).
