My late wife had bought an anthology of the best science fiction short stories of the seventies and eighties. Very enlightening to read it, and to be truthful, encouraging.

Yup. Lots of individual stories from any era of science fiction have things to recommend them to modern readers. What we're talking about here is the gestalt of the "Golden Age" of US science fiction, which was, overtly and otherwise, greatly shaped by John W. Campbell.

Contract signed, so I'm excited to announce that my time loop story "Falling Forever" will be reprinted in @mercwolfmoor.bsky.social's OPPORTUNITY WINDOW anthology. I love time loops so I'm super excited to read this whole book.

Excited to see my weird sci-fi story "All the Rainbows We Shed" take on second life in this collection!

(This is necessarily a simplification, as Galaxy and F&SF also had their house styles, but again, the submission round often started with Campbell, and Campbell was known to like particular things in his stories. Writers wrote to him and/or would get edited to better conform to his liking.)
