It does suck. Pitch black outside this morning when my middle schooler got the bus. We’re extremely rural, no street lights, and the deer are in rut so they are everywhere.

Sure, but at the same time every child health care professional on the planet says we shouldn't be sending our kids to school so early, especially teenagers. But the boss needs you at your desk at 8AM, so school has to start at 7. It's bad policies propping up bad policies.

The conversation no one wants to have is if you want to do this, you have to move school start times back thereby forcing later start times for mom and dad’s jobs. If we truly valued education, we’d structure our society to accommodate this but we don’t.
