I need y’all to understand that “petard” is an archaic word for “bomb”. When someone is “hoist by their own petard”, it means their own bomb blew them upward. A “petard” is not a thing you get hoisted /onto/. This keeps coming up this week for some reason.

As I have often said: I grew up on welfare. Other people's taxes kept me alive. I LIKE paying taxes, for the sake of kids like me. I dislike paying more than people who already have more money than I will ever see in my lifetime.
