Addicted to words. Used to be paid by the column-inch. (You can probably still tell.) Gleeful flipper of all the tropes. Queer, disabled, neurospicy thespian. Indie author of Chai and Cat-tales. (About to commit a trilogy.) https://lynnstrong.com

The prose absolutely dictates the tone and narrative voice! If a high fantasy is written in the same register as a contemporary romance or a thriller, it breaks the immersion. It's tonally jarring. And personally I want lush vivid language because I'm a deeply visual reader and writer.

Show PostI don't know of any free online sites here, sorry. UK libraries have their own central buyers and (increasingly shrinking) budgets linked to county councils.
Show PostUnfortunately I don't know I'm afraid. I'm also not sure how actual libraries are supplied in the UK though. @janjonesauthor.bsky.social any ideas? I suspect you know more about this than me.
