A big part of this attitude is arrogance rather than mustache-twirling evil. These people think AI is categorically more important than anything else there's ever been, especially personal computing, property, art, hobbyists, etc. so society needs to abandon all that and organize around AI companies

it is actually more economically efficient, in terms of computation/dollars, for all the resources to be pooled in a cloud service. but that doesn't matter, because 1. that consolidates power and incentivizes tremendous abuse and 2. optimizing computation/dollars isn't optimizing human wellbeing

this is sort of an economics 101 thing, because yes, a monopoly could theoretically be more efficient, but that's not how it actually works because corporate behavior is governed by incentives. but I do fully understand he's refused to ever think about this
