I’m not really sure if this is actually going to work out for me, but it’s worth a shot. It was the most absurd way I could have escaped my situation, but it felt like a cry for help that I could only see when I had people to remind me my work is not my value.

Before then, I had become all of the things that I became when I can’t listen to myself: depressed, apathetic, and cynical. I definitely needed to get out of my job, and I needed a push. Moving was that push. Even if I didn’t know it was going to be.

It felt like such a massive relief that I couldn’t believe the amount of weight that had been on my shoulders. Even in my personal life, I felt like I was a suddenly an entirely different person without understanding why. I needed some time to think about exactly what changed.

When the decision finally came, I thanked the people who told me when my end date would be without really understanding why I did that. I thought it was because they would fire me, but that wouldn’t have been practical. I was more than happy to work with them, and they were happy to take my help.
