I’m not really in Conservative influencer circles anymore (a mix of reasons, though no door is ever fully closed), but I know these people. Stephen Taylor generally has sound personal views, but will always be a party man. (You need those.) I think he hits it, here.

And that’s where Conservative frustration hits us. Canada has a winning lottery ticket — British institutions, a powerful stock market, an educated population, connections to all major locii of power. We should be great. Yet we’re just … good. So Conservatives get angry about it. Visibly angry.
