Show PostAs for potential violations of professional conduct, that's what the special master inquiry (if the gov't consents) or Judge Reyes' own inquiry will be for.
Show PostThere are a couple reasons Judge Reyes would want to appoint a special master for the misconduct inquiry. (1) She has other stuff to do, including in this case. (2) It provides a buffer for claims of bias from either party. (3) Getting an outside opinion is helpful.
