I cannot fathom walking out of a holiday rental and leaving washing up behind, cleaning fee or no. Where is their self respect?

OK but stripping the bed and washing dishes is what you do when you rent a holiday home, and that's the market AirBnB are in. The hosts are quite right and I suspect this is the moral degeneracy of the American citizen at play where they assume somebody else always tidies up after them.
