Sometimes it feels like someone in the SW writers' room wants to nudge it that way (e.g. the droid rights activist/would be revolutionary in Solo, the class commentary in TLJ), but I agree entirely. There is a lot of unexamined social tension there that a different franchise would've mined for gold.

Ironically while you could make the case that SF's role was determinative in the early months of Afghanistan--before the commitment of the broader US military--that was done in a manner directly oppositional to the outlook of the SOF vetbros.
