It's convenient that for one of my own projects I have a good friend volunteering for background work. They're almost exclusively a character artist. It was very painful for them, and I'm super proud. It turned out "way too good" and told them to put less effor in next time.

So, knowing how much of a shift backgrounds can be is on the mind. I bet it's infuriating being used to a certain level of familiarity, and not being able to apply that to a different format.
