Beyond all that: you could agree with all the assertions of this piece and it would still be wildly premature to claim waning or dying influence. Most signals point to him becoming more mainstream than he has ever been. Not a “king maker” but he was starting the race from way behind.

They can’t seem to see that this is all part of the approach. Fuentes used to hound Shapiro at all his appearances. People made the same claim. They were wrong.

This perfectly expresses something I have been thinking all evening; that Patrick Stewart could come from a poor working class Yorkshire family and have the career he did would have been unthinkable a generation earlier, and the powers that be contrive to make it unthinkable for the next generation.
