I wanted to mention that for some artists nsfw content is generally an additional "tool". It can be as explicit as depictions of violence and abstraction like horror which can be nsfw. For me, it's an ideology of understanding sexuality as being a part of yourself and not a demon you keep in a cage.

as a professional NSFW artist I can only speak for myself but I do it because I think sex is cool and normal and kinks are interesting and fun. And you can do weird shit that would be impossible, impractical, or unethical, explore all the weird shit you want with art. It's great.
