I wish more people understood this. As a teenager, I rented a 2-bedroom unit near the beach in North Carolina from my minimum-wage job. About 50 years later, I am still paying back student loans and question whether I will ever be able to retire.

I was explaining a very similar scenario to my adult children. What’s worse, my baby boomer parents were able to rent apartments, buy a car, and pay for college on minimum-wage jobs. There were even free colleges back then.

I'm just saying, considering that Seattle is a very expensive city, and what 2 bedroom apartments cost other places, it is surprising one can get one for $2000 a month. I'm not disputing it can be hard to pay for! That's the case most other places too.
