I really hope you're right, and the only danger they pose is the bubble bursting and causing another economic crash. Between that, climate change, and a nutter at the head of the world's biggest military... we already have enough trouble 🙏

It's possible, could just be them trying to slow the Chinese competition or buying time to come up with paymodels to look more promising to their investors. But none of them are actually going to slow down, it's not like they will tell their mathematicians to stop thinking of solutions they need.
Show Postwhich is the most expensive and still requires development (tech is currently maxed at 15-30 seconds), but once they've solved those math puzzles, it'll only take a few years to become far cheaper too. So who's going to pay for anything in a few years? Yeah, those trillions are never coming back.😬
