In 2008 after the financial collapse, I remember getting an email back from a 20 hour a week no benefits receptionist job saying they'd received more than a hundred applications and it was going to take a while to get through them all. Now they're just assigning an AI slop bot to turn people down.

Reminder for election season that "the poor vote against their own interests!" is largely a myth. In general the poor don't vote. The base of American fascism is rural and suburban gentry. Oppression and genocide to reinforce their own power *are* their interests, and both parties chase them.
