This is just the maddest argument. These people would trap us in poverty to keep a decade old commitment, which no one ever actually made, to an electorate which no longer exists.

Apropos lazy. The laziest but still common in teaching in Germany is the Diktat (dictation), going all the way to year 10, so GCSE equivalent. It’s peppered with obscure words and there is a point deduction per word missed too. Easy to mark. Teaching skills for the modern workplace? Absolutely not.🤦
