Tbf it’s not clear it would block new projects given current gas costs, although the pace of deployment could slow given ongoing grid constraints. The question of why it’s being briefed in this way is definitely worrying though.

Because of the way the UK energy market works, this would just block all new offshore wind, which would be an insane policy. Labour won't end up doing this, so the real question becomes: who is briefing this out, and why?

Good piece giving a sense of the state of the debate. It’s good in bringing together some of the key scientific voices alongside the more ‘lived experience’ from the community. Worth getting the paper for this piece alone
