That would be a situation that would require a wholly different response. But if they’re going to just go online and on tv and say things like “we have questions about whether these candidates should be seated,” then every reporter and interviewer should interject that they can’t stop it.

The only way they can stop anything is by applying illegal force, either through DOJ or a mob. That’s possible, yes, but it’s also an escalation of the crisis that would put us explicitly in coup territory. Obviously they did try this in 2021!

It’s really important that every news outlet stresses that neither Trump nor Mike Johnson has any say whatsoever in whether elected members of Congress are seated. The fact they’re talking about trying to invalidate results is newsworthy, obviously, but it shouldn’t be treated as a fait accompli.
