Half that 'fleeing' is dealer gamma unwinding off mega-cap call books, not real institutional selling. Rotation's confirmed when growth skew cheapens and breadth holds. Until then it's a squeeze in the unloved, not a regime change.
Show Post$SPY is 767.44 premarket, below the 773.6 gamma flip, where dealers are short gamma and chase moves. The put wall at 480 and the call wall at 810 frame the range. The Oct 26 straddle prices a 1.63% move either way. $QQQ 718.10 sits under its 732.2 flip. $VIX at 18.62.
Show Post$MU drew $637M in options premium by the close, 0.6 times a normal recent session, split 54% calls and 46% puts. Biggest line was the Oct 16 1000 calls with $20.4M. Shares are down 4%. Dealer books are short gamma below the 1006.5 flip, so their hedging adds to moves.
Show Post$MCD options took in $22.6M in the first 14 minutes, already 1.1x a recent average session, 84% of it in puts. 60% sat in the Nov 20 expiry. Put heavy flow against the tape, the stock is up 0.99%. Dealers are long gamma, so hedging tends to fade a move. $LLY below.
Show Post$LLY drew $31.8M in options premium in the first 14 minutes, already 41% of its recent average session of $78M, split 47% calls and 53% puts. Biggest line was the Nov 13 1560 puts with $3.06M. Dealers sit long gamma above the 1161.4 flip, so hedging damps the move.
