Evan’s merely spelling out the implications of something so many of us hear. Like, when I visit my family in Nebraska, I get told this exact thing about passing so I should be safe almost every time, rather than people fighting tooth and nail to make it so my existence isn’t a crime.

This is a thing that’s so commonly and thoughtlessly said by cis people, it’s not a “some people are saying” situation. It’s like how almost every trans person is tired of being told “you’re so brave” or “you look so good i would never have thought you were trans.” It’s a typical microaggression.

Just to spell this out explicitly: I already know my life is pretty good. I have a supportive family, I live in a state where trans people are mostly protected. I have not been left entirely untouched by the anti-trans backslide, but on the whole I've got a good life and I feel blessed.

For all Trump’s tanking popularity, it remains the case that the Democrat party is also deeply unpopular. Stupid stunts like this are SO unhelpful. I can’t believe that Kamala Harris is also considering running again- and is currently the top candidate in informal polls. The party HAS to do better.
