Since I am part of the problem, I need to be part of the solution, so I have it written down to remind me that when AO3 comes back up I need to go and comment on their fics to show that support, and not just have it be lip service!

It is a really sucky situation. Even I am not absolved of the crime, either. It took me seeing one of my favorite fic writers lamenting that people don't seem to care about their fics to realize that I hadn't commented on their fics (tbf I read them a LONG time ago) but I also recognized that...

Of course!! Sorry for being a bit defensive, I woke up this morning to see a few mutuals posting negatively about stuff I had been very excited for so I was just in a defensive position from the get go. But both of your explanations make a lot of sense.

or "dont worry cause no one even wants to steal your shit work" 😵‍💫😵‍💫 (literally things ive seen ppl share in response to writers publicly saying they dont consent to their work being distributed like that)

Also theres a good amount of ppl who write fanfic and are fanartists, and feel it still sucks the same. Cause at the end of the day to the ppl who dont want their work reuploaded elsewhere, its theft and then disrespect when they get told "well dont post publicly if you dont want ppl to take it 🤷‍♂️"
