Team cold❄️ or team heat♨️? Meet Pyrococcus furiosus: an archaeon that is definitely team heat. Found in deep-sea hydrothermal vents, it grows perfectly at 100oC; it only takes 37 minutes to duplicate its population, and its metabolism depends on tungsten, a metal rarely used in biological systems.
