Still trying to wrap my head around last night. What a surreal honor to receive the Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction for There Is No Place for Us. Above all, feeling completely overwhelmed with gratitude to the five families who entrusted me with their stories and made this book possible.

I just saw some mom of a child with a cochlear implant refer to it's activation as his "hearing birthday" and it made me really sad. Hearing tech can be useful and I don't begrudge anybody that tool, but equating that to birth/ being alive is a bummer and an unrealistic expectation for that tech.
