Look if I was built like a femboy I’d dress as Ann Takamaki for Halloween
Show PostI feel like to some level this is the problem I started seeing years ago when the writers needed conflict or problems and they just have characters turn on each other for no reason. A plot point must happen. The character will contort however, break past established traits, to make this happen.
Show PostI'm not the crowd that needs the characters to say everything they're thinking out loud, it's just if you've shown me a character to be cautious, and suddenly they're making nothing BUT bad decisions and there's no motivation, no increase of desperation, exhaustion, just bad choices out of nowhere?
Show Post2. If your character is going to change goals or a key part of their personality, at some point, you have to give us some signal or indication WHY. There's a lot of what I'm calling "unearned" or "untold" character changes that just feel like they're dropped in & we're supposed to accept.
Show Post1. If your story dangles a bunch of thematic promises in the first few episodes and by the end of your 8-12 episode season you have not only failed to hit any of them but super swerve dodged every single one of them, I don't trust you as a storyteller.
