Ah, the cure of the Funky Drummer (those baggy shenanigans I mean, not your old skin-thumper).
Show PostOuch! Getting older you realise how much success in that sphere relied on blind random luck - "right place, right time" seemed like a cliché but it was so true. The Sliding Doors of Destiny only ever admit a handful of the millions trying to squeeze through - probably worse now with Bandcamp, etc?
Show PostSounds OK to me - has a touch of the Chameleons about it but only a bit. It definitely sounds like a band Peel would've had in session, but I guess the sheer volume of the stuff he was being sent back then made it impossible for him to book everybody? I could imagine Sounds getting behind it...
Show PostI hope you requested a freebie? I really need to know who this mystery band was now, but I understand your reticence - I'm always reluctant to divulge details of my musical pasts too (though none of mine did anything particularly worthwhile anyway).
Show PostSadly I never saw CTs, but Garlands is still one of my fave LPs from that period - I'm not so keen on their later stuff tbh. Electro Hippies were ace - esp. their Peel session. What was your old band called, dare I ask? Bogshed were a good band to dance to. Noisy sweaty fun!
