The entire book is just him being visited by every possible misfortune and being extremely excited about it all. Sailing the way to one jungle he got intestinal parasites from fish, and he was clearly having a blast. Four other men died from them on that voyage.
Show PostIn another jungle he slipped on a log, fell, and impaled himself on a branch. In another jungle he got terrible diarrhea, became emaciated of the point of looking skeletal. Both of them: jolly good fun, 10 pip pips and what nots out of 10
