Show PostThank you so much to everyone for the kind words. I've been diagnosed with GAD for over a decade now and rarely ever talk about it. There's a massive mental relief in being able to bring it up. The existential dread feels far less all consuming when you're able to discuss it.
Show PostAnyway, I'm going to avoid stressing too much about posting this and just post this. I've written something like this dozens of times already and I'm ready to just put it out there. Thank you so much for listening. I'm going to go make some beans for breakfast.
Show PostI'd like to be more open about it. Primarily because it helped me to hear other people talk about their mental health and I hope I can do the same for others. Anxiety is especially difficult because its nature makes it hard to speak about. Especially when you need to advocate for yourself.
Show PostIn recent years I've made good friends who have reacted with compassion and interest when this sort of thing is mentioned. I've had situations where I can say "I need to step away. My anxiety is bad" and moments where friends will check in on me when I'm noticeably tense. That's helped me so much.
