I think if Beto ran this year, he absolutely could win. I don’t buy that he did anything wrong when he ran considering he turned out more Dems than anyone before him. It’s just always an uphill battle for statewide Dems in TX

Five new polls out in TX this week and Talarico is up by an average of 3 points. He has led or been tied in every poll in the last 2 months. Beto in 2018 never led a single poll in last 2 months, and was behind by average of 6 pts at in Oct. Beto lost by 2.6%. Hinojosa is tied in last 5 polls...

It’s notable that Abbott did basically the same in 2022 as 2018. Which is partly due to Beto being a better candidate, but I think Greg’s popularity has slipped after the freeze/Uvalde shooting/Central TX floods.
