Not that I'm a massive fighter or anything, but any violent altercation I've been in or near (yay South Africa!) was literally over in seconds. Beyond not really enjoying it, protracted fight scenes in fiction just feel stupid (and oddly boring) to me.
Show Postcut to the bone in the last five years, when publishing was making RECORD profits. When I criticise publishing I’m not talking about overworked people on a salary who love books, but a system in which pressure is exerted from above - & writers are on the bottom, with tasks & blame falling on them.
Show PostI really may be alone in this sort of assertion and my grammar and typing tonight is bad....but REALLY. I see people going off constantly lately about weird and I'm watching and barely any of it (note I did not say all lest you want to run and give me exceptions!) deals with race and anger.
Show PostI once did a first aid course. The first step in examining the casualty was to use a loud voice to see if you could get a reaction. I have a very loud voice. My casualty giggled. Apparently I still had to do the rest of the exercise even though they were obviously conscious, lucid and responsive :)
Show PostWhen I was learning aikido, I remember once instead of engaging in the demonstrated movement, I dodged and ran away from the sensei. He said, "good, that is real aikido, but now we need to do the movement" 🤣
