oh the other big one is Conde Nast publications having a higher batting average for what I can only assume are somewhat similarly well aligned incentive structures? Though I don't fully understand that one.

It's funny how much better in some ways sports and culture media at the same level of prestige is because of the stronger incentives to deliver things that align with the interests and needs of readers.

trust me I’ve been like this since around 2019/2020. The media writ large is still very important but it’s undeniable that mainstream media ownership places their fingers on the scale and that that *matters*
