I know this sounds crazy but people can actually search “Russian Grand Strategy” and read some well informed Russia experts who actually take the time to study if having NATO troops and Air Force on Russia’s border antagonizes them or actually keeps them from occupying more places.

"Russia hasn't invaded all those countries who joined NATO, that's why it's pointless" is the survivorship bias meme but somehow actually considered a real argument in a lot of IR circles

I go to his grave occasionally and it is always clear he has many visitors. I also wonder what he would’ve thought about how much darker the world has become since 2016. I think he would’ve been on the right side of history and maybe recorded something for Ukraine. He loved liberty.
