Folks have forgotten history, or are ignoring it. We weren't the younger siblings of the nêhiyaw-pwat, we were crucial to it. We are being siloed and set against one another in order to attain some form of state recognition and this divide and conquer tactic is working because we let it.

It's a fundamental misunderstanding of who we are, and of the fact that we are a distinct People (as much as I hate how "distinctiveness" is weaponized by the state against Indigenous Peoples in ways that stymie solidarity and kinship). We aren't watered down Cree, or Nish.

We need to revive the nêhiyaw-pwat, with or without our "representative" orgs. This inter-nation diplomacy needs to be happening. Like honestly, we should be hosting embassies in one another's Nations on the Prairies.
